In 1974 Ed Gallant, Wayne LeBree, Mike Hall, Doug Minor, Joel Rudom, Chuck Gessner, Chuck Shuman and Bill Robinson founded a motorcycle club for police officers in Bangor/Maine. They called
themselves Blue Knights. To this day, the goal of the Blue Knights is to organize motorcycle tours together, to meet friends all over the world and to support organizations and foundations with
donations.
The Blue Knights currently have over 19,500 members in over 650 chapters worldwide, spread across 29 countries and are one of the largest motorcycle clubs.
The Bernese police officer and motorcycle fan Mike Waldspurger had good contact to the Blue Knights Europe as a 'Member at Large'. So he was able to found the first Swiss chapter, the Blue Knights Switzerland, on November 11, 2000 in Blapbach/BE with other motorcycle enthusiastic police colleagues and became the first president.
As of today, there are four chapters in Switzerland. Blue Knights Switzerland 1 currently consists of the regions BE / FR / SG / ZH and Germany
According to the regulations of the Blue Knights International, as well as the statutes of the Blue Knights Switzerland 1, every natural person of both sexes can become a member of the Blue Knights, who fulfills the following requirements:

The current provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Blue Knights International and the current provisions of the Blue Knights Switzerland 1 shall govern the requirements for membership. The Board of Directors shall review the requirements of each applicant.
